Hi friends,
Last Saturday, I and my roommate went to play Lawn Tennis (my favorite sport). After 5 games, I was leading 4-1. Then something incredible happened. I told him: “Oh how the mighty have fallen”. I was feeling great. Then as we played more games the score line went from 4-1 to 4-2, 4-3, 4-4, 4-5, and then 4-6. I was surprised but that experience taught me a lesson.
I allowed the success to get to my head and it caused my tennis downfall. It reminded me of the popular saying that “Success is the enemy of success”. Writing this even takes me back to childhood when I had a similar experience.
Here's what happened:
During the first term of my SS2 class, I got 98% in Mathematics. Although I was third in my class, I was happy with the score. Actually too happy that I felt like a Maths genius. The first and second positions got 100% and 99% respectively. So I decided not to read in the second term. My genius brain would do great. Or so I thought. When the results were out, I got 78%. I was in pain. My ambition to be the first was crushed. Then I realized, I must study and solve Maths no matter how good I “think” am.
This is a lesson I would also apply to my YouTube channel. As I strive for mastery in it and my videos begin to go viral (at some point). I have to always remain a student. Always keep learning. Always keep growing.
Have a great weekend.
